Hey all you saltys. I know that I am a few thousand miles from the nearest coastline especially for Stripers, but. My friends dad has a 5 acre pond and its stalked with Stripers. Im not talking small ones either, Im talking 5,6,7-10lbers (to me thats big). I managed to hook into one that was 5-6lbs when finally brought to hand. Guess what color of fly? A Chartruese #6 Drop Nose Minnow. I think the best part was the take very vicious. Not to mention all of the other ones that took my flies and hung them on their walls for a good laugh.
I see why that could be addicting not to mention standing waist high in the ocean on a crisp morning. Now if I can only imagine hooking into one that spends most of his time at sea. One day maybe it will happen with out having to imagine. Just thought that I would share.
Just take a short trip to the East Coast. We are only about 16 hours from Indiana. Drive out, fish the falling tide sleep, fish the next one and drive home. You could do it in a weekend.
I on he other hand get exhausted driving two hours to the ocean and can barely do it in a day trip

Good job on the catch. I caught my first one on the fly last week what fun. All the ones I have been catching are just schoolies though not even close to 5 lbs.
Who has time for stress when there are fish to catch.
Nick
I know how you feel. We have them here in Arkansas. They are stocked in the local lake and run upstream with the White Bass. Some also slip through the dam at time and end up in the tailwater with the trout. I caught a 10 pound Striper on a 4wt while trout fishing about a month ago.
