First attempt tying midges

I have vowed to get out and fish more this winter, and to learn to fish midges while doing so. In order to do this, I am starting to tie up some midge patterns from the book Modern Midges by Takahashi and Hubka. Here is the first (click on the image to enlarge).

Mini Bow-Tie Buzzer

Nice little Pupa imitation. Should do a fairly good job of catchin fish.

Here’s this weekend’s tie, my take on Bubba’s Bubble Head (photo isn’t great but should suffice):

That’s a serious website Donald!

Gentlemen,
I am glad you find it useful.

I’ve got a super easy recipe for tying midge dries. I think I’m going to do a fly of the week on it. It’s an easy way to tie up some 22-26’s. Just have to make the time to do it.

TT.

Please do, we can sure use it!
Hugs,
LF

Hey, you tease!! Show us a pic of the finished fly at least!!

This will have to do. I don’t remember what size hook it is, I just happened to have a picuture of it on my computer. I’m guessing it’s a 22, and not the best sample to offer you.

I think I’ll be able to do a step by step fly of the week this coming week LF, I’ll most likely get it to you on Wednesday.
