First 20" fish of the year

Gees! Ease up on the guy. It’s a fish not a human being. That’s one fish. Trout are more resilient than one might think.
NICE CATCH!

Fish on!

In fact, the wet mud, might even be easier on it’s slime coating than rough dry grass would have been. Great fish! Caught my first twenty incher two days ago, but it was a wiper not a trout.

It’s not a personal attack it is just criticism.
By posting that picture he was looking for personal gratification.
He should also be prepared for some criticism as well.
It was pointed out the rod and reel were posed for an attempt at composition.
Well these posts were advice for a better picture.

“It’s just a fish, not a human being” …agreed.
Don’t you think we should have as much respect and care for wildlife as we possible can?
I’m not a wacko, if you are going to eat it, dispatch it and ice it. If you are going to release it, release it in as best condition as you can. I wouldn’t let it flop in the mud for a hero shot.
That’s just my opinion and apparently I am not alone.

And still…it is a nice fish.

No one has mentioned it yet, but I was set back by the rod / reel combo in the mud. I wouldn’t want any grit in my reels drag system. I know that most of them are sealed units these days, but the reel and even the rod in the mud gave me the willies.

Nice fish I am still looking for a 20" plus brown. Maybe this year. I don’t know about the mud’s effect on the fish, but I think that next time you might take the shot in a different way. I still think it is a nice acomplishment to have such an interaction with a beautiful brown trout.

Rick

Criticism yeah…constructive criticism? Guess I wouldn’t take it that way!

When I come back from the Kabekona, I hope to have a hero shot of at least a 10" brookie.
I hope you’ll be the first to critique it Duffin Boy.

Dang, did Castwell and LF change the name of this place to “Fish Photographers Online” without tellin me?

Marty

No…sounds like you wouldn’t…that’s ok.

I hope you do too, have a good trip.
I probably wouldn’t critique it though…what would be the point.

Have a safe trip.

Thanks…I’m going solo so will make a point of being less careless than usual.
