I have always been more interested in the why rather than the how. Socrates is credited with stating: “The unexamined life is not worth living.” While I’m not certain that I fully agree with Socrates conclusion that life without careful examination is not worth living, I am of the conviction that knowing the why is of inestimable importance.
I liked this article very much. I’ve always viewed fly fishing as a sporting way to fish, and historically it was considered such. It is intended to be more difficult by design. It employs skills that take practice to master. In endeavoring to make it easy, we lose so much. I like the challenges embodied in fly fishing and tying, and wouldn’t have it any other way.
