Finally sinking

I bought an Orvis Rocky Mountain Large arbor reel for my 6/7 on 5/15/2005. At the same time I ordered a new spool. It showed up today 4/7/2006 and I put a type 3 full sink line on it.
I have fished with homemade sink tip before but have never cast a full sink line. My target is deep water smallies, walleye, maybe carp.
Any advice on tactics, species or flies?
Almost a year and I’m pretty excited its like a whole new approach.

Have fun! Personally I hate full sink lines, they are not really intended to be cast, it’s more like a chuck and duck. I spent an afternoon casting a 10 wt. on saltwater from a boat, and I was flat exausted, my arm and shoulder hurt for a couple of days…and yes, I do know how to cast and it wasn’t a crummy rod.

It is work.

I usually find myself in a Float tube trolling with my sinking line. Wooly Buggers are deadly.

I use a full sinking line while wading small streams with wollies and gummy minnows to pretty good sucsess.
GO FOR IT!
