I started this rod about a year and a half ago, lost motivation, and built a couple other rods. Then I decided to try some new techniques on it. My first ramp, first feather inlay. Tried a different brand of color preserver (didn’t work as well as U40 colorlock) and tried Threadmaster epoxy (I liked it better than U40 LS supreme). I also realized it is very difficult to take good pictures of a rod. The pictures:

I like those dark ends on your cork grip. Did you do that yourself?
The dark cork rings on the ends are Lamar exotic burl burnt cork.

I took the new rod out to the pond today and caught a few little bluegill. The Rainshadow IF804 casts really nice. It is not medium fast, I would say medium (unless I am just jaded by my RX8+ 4wt) and very smooth with a Rio Gold wf4f line. It was windy at times so I had to double haul and it handled that fine, too. This is one of Batson’s good ones.
Sure was worth the wait.
