Filson wading jacket

Im thiking of purchasing a filson wading jaket does anyone have one?? and if you do what do you think of it.

I have one. Waxed cotton has a flavor like single malt and fine cigars. It smells of history and feels of times gone by. But it is not as good as modern gore-tex garmets. It hs a tendency to get stiff cold and it is not light. You can’t wad it up and stuff it in your vest for sudden squalls. But it is history you can wear. Don’t buy one as your only jacket. Buy it and wear it out of love. And treat it as you would a fine old cane rod and a referbished HDH silk line.

I have a Filson strap vest and wouldnt trade it for nothin. I got it cause vests bind me up

I have been looking at these for a long time in my seemingly eternal search for the perfect vest, I like a lot of the features it has. Finally I have ordered one and it is on the way - I’ll let you know what I think when it arrives.

I have been browsing for ages… finally saw on for close on one hundred bucks new, that is nearer the mark for what I am prepared to spend. Have a look there! I can send you the seller if you want to give me a pm.

The Filson wading jacket, unlike the Barbour Spey jacket, is only lined across the yoke and in the sleeves. When worn, the waxed fabric in the body of the jacket rubs against the upper part of your waders and, inevitably, some of the wax compound rubs off onto them. This may not have any effect on neoprenes but I can’t I can’t imagine it does any good for breathables.

Maybe this is only a problem for me… :frowning:
The only waxed cotton apparel I own is a fishing hat.
I bought it for fishing in the rain but it been years since I’ve used it.
During a normal rainy day of fishing, the amount of perspiration trapped in the crown is worse that if I hadn’t worn a hat at all
It’s a jaunty looking chapeau, but it doesn’t serve the purpose it was made for.
