There are certain names that invoke instant recognition and in the world of fly fishing the Cortland name resonates with any fly fisher that has been around for even a few years. For those of us with mostly white hair on our balding pate Cortland fly lines were probably one of the first fly lines that we owned when we started fly fishing. My first fly line was a Cortland 333.
I was lucky enough to grow-up in Cortland, NY. We not only had the Cortland Line Co. but right down the road there was the Newton Line Co. (for those with even more grey in their hair!!) in Homer, NY. With the many gravel pits in the area we had alot of great fishing opportunities only a long walk or short bike ride away from my house as well as my grandparents home in Homer.
Always a beautiful area no matter what the season!
