Favorite Scissors??

I am looking to buy a new pair of scissors and was wondering if anyone had suggestions!! I have been using the original 2 pair of Orvis scissors I got 2 years ago when I started tying and they just aren’t cutting it anymore (pun intended). Thanks for suggestions!!

Dr. Slick Arrow points, I love that serrated edge; you can cut a big bunch of material at once without it slipping out of the tips of the blades.

I really like my Anvil Midge Accu-tip Ice Scissors. They are very sharp with adjustable finger loops and I can hold them in my hand while tying.

Hi,

I really like the Wiss Clips and you can buy new blades when ever you feel the need. Take care & …

I like my Dr. Slicks Arrow Points, However I Love my Dr. Slicks “Prisim” Titanium Nitride
Colored ones.

Ditto to the Dr. Slick Arrow Points. I have several pairs of scissors, but these I use for most tying. The exception is a pair of Fiskars for more difficult to cut materials like wire, lead sheet, Deer Hair, etc.

Anvil supreme and anvil long reach. American made scissors. I have been using the same scissors now for about 3-years. I like the large finger wholes allows to keep scissor in my hand as I am tying. They seem to be staying sharp even when I do dumb things.

Anvil. They don’t look like much but they work really well. So do my Tiemco. I would take either over the Dr. Slick any day.

I love the Wiss Clips. They fit in the palm of my hand and I don’t have to lay them down when I’m tying. As a matter of fact, I’ll be ordering some blades from Al next week.

I have the Anvil straight and curved (for deer hair) and they are great. 8 years and they are still sharp. For general tying if flies #12 and smaller, I use suture scissors that I received from a doctor who removed my stitches following an injury. Very fine, sharp point. Yes, they were sterile when he removed my stitches four years ago.

WISS clips all the way. I also use Arrow tips for hair and other heavier materials

Just in case anyone wants or needs some scissors, I have 3 or 4 pair that I got from Danville cheap for someone that didn’t take them after I ordered them for him. They are stainless steel, not fancy, but very cheap and work.

If anyone is interested please PM me. I have $1.50 in each and will sell them for that plus a couple of bucks shipping cost.

They are not DR. Slicks or even the Dr. Slick’s copy like I use that were like $6.75 each, but they work.

PM me if interested,

Thanks for the HIJACK Skip!!

I appreciate all of the comments that have been given!! I will have to do a little more research on some brands given!!

Thanks,

G

Another vote for Wiss clips. I love their pointy, razor-sharp replaceable blades and the way they nestle in your hand while tying.

HIJACK? I would have sworn someone ask about scissors? Just wanted who ever may be interested they can have 3 pair of scissors for about $7 and even if they don’t last with the $12 I can’t imagine with all 3 someone can use them a pretty long time.

If you want a recommendation then I say go for the Dr. Slicks look alike made in the same country I believe they are and only $6.50 or so. Mine (look alike Dr. Slicks) are very good for the money, but I don’t sell them.

Not like the $1.50 ones at all as they are just SS and low cost.

Solingen brand scissors with oversized finger holes and matte finish. Both curved and straight blades. I love the curved blades for trimming deer hair and dubbing around fly heads.
