Faster Than Usual

I decided about 5:00 p.m. to take off tomorrow morning for a couple days fishing in Western Wyoming - the Greys River for sure, and the Smith Fork if I get there. By 5:30 the truck was loaded and I was ready to take off, except for the few last minute things I always load just before leaving. Loading that stuff takes about five minutes, and then I’m on the road for as long a trip as planned, or longer.

What I realized while I was loading the truck, was I was doing it faster than usual. There was almost a sense of urgency rather than a more relaxed anticipation of the trip. It dawned on me that the summer is coming to an end soon, and that the end of the camping season also seems to be approaching FASTER THAN USUAL.

Are you feeling it, too ??

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Ain’t “GETT’IN OLDER”, just grand, Sir John?
“Flies are timed, when having fun”!

I actually look forward to the cooler months of Fall and Spring. I have a couple of canoe/camping/fishing trips for the beginning of October, and may make another trip up to the Au Sable in Michigan. I’m not a big fan of very hot weather, but certainly enjoy the longer days of Summer. Getting older is what YOU make of it, and just be thankful for each and every dawn we are given…thay are truly a gift.

Wouldn’t know about that “gett’in older” stuff, Paul. Could you elaborate ??

John

Summer fishing season blends into fall fishing season, which then turns to winter fishing season, and back to spring fishing season. Camping in any season is no longer the adventure it was when I was younger, merely a means to save some $ and time.

I could SWEAR we just put the snowplow up for the season, tho.

I’m having trouble believing that Spetember is just around the corner and the cutts at Lowell are waiting. Where did the year go? Seems the older I get the faster the time flies by.
