Excus my spelling and gramma, I hooked Mondays and Fridays so I could Hunt or fish.
Here in the UK, I am expecting delivery of a new yak from New Zealand anytime soon and then need to get the thing rigged.
Off to Scotland tomorrow for the annual winter clave. Form is usually freezing blizzards, winds, big surf, taking a dunking and wading deep in the water to keep warm. Fishing should be good.
I guided two beginning fly anglers yesterday who insisted on fishing despite horrible conditions. It was so windy my drift sock couldn’t slow the Hewes enough so I set my mushroom anchor over the side on a short line!
But we caught fish nonstop. Leaping ladyfish one after another that ate the Commissioner Johnson and Copper Commissioner (see my web site for photos and tying instructions–they’ll work just fine for the fish-in: [url=http://www.tightloopsflyfishing.com).:4e3a6]www.tightloopsflyfishing.com).[/url:4e3a6]
I drifted an oyster bar twice and they both missed opportunities for redfish.
As Dave mentioned in his post, the night snook fishing has been phenomenal. Best action I’ve seen in 10 years. The snook (and bluefish in the 4-pound class) eat small white/silver glass minnows and shrimp patterns tied with pearl estaz. Again, refer to my web site for photos and recipes.
In fact, I’ve got a night trip tonight, then a full day in Charlotte Harbor tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted.
Tony,

To The Geezer : Norm’s crystal schminnow with red bead chain eyes is what Tony’s cohorts told me was catching the snook. They like the red eyes better than the chartreuse eyes. I’ve been tying up a few every week, also with black mono eyes ( this is a great snook-on-the-beach fly for the summertime ) for the starter flies. Just like bartending & serving flies for the fishes, but the drinks have better names… .recipe : # 2 or #4 Mustad 3407 or similar, bead chain or mono eyes figure 8 tyed in so you can get a couple wraps of estaz in front of them , white marabou tail ( or a couple of feather hackles ) with a couple strands of flash per side, white or pearl estaz wrapped from the tail to the eyes & around & tied off at the hook eye. Catches all kinds of fish around the area, & I learned the pattern fishing on the Potomac for smallmouth back in the late 80’s, just supersized it for the salt !
