Has anybody compared these 2 series of rods and what was your opinion. I’m thinking of the 4 piece/5wts.
Sorry, I’ve no comparison but I am a big fan of Elkhorn. Nice rod, great service. Of the St.Croix I cannot speak.

I have the St. Croix Imperial in an 8 1/2’ 5 wieght, 2 piece. I believe if your were to buy a Reign 5 years ago, it would have been called the Imperial. This is a go-to rod for me. A very smooth Mod/Fast action. I understand that actions are a subjective terminology, but for me that’s the way it works. The rod feels strong. Like your not going to snap it in half if you try to get a few extra feet out of a cast. I’ve been told that it looks like that rod was invented for my casting stroke. I’m not the best of casters so it is a forgiving rod in that sense. No two people have the same casting stroke, so my best advice would be to try and cast one first. Then see if it was built for your stroke.
