El Cheapo

I bought a fly tying kit and miscellaneous supplies. Now I want to actually buy a rod, reel, and any other gadgets I need to be successful. Well… at least have a chance. Does anyone know of any combo deals on quality gear? Also, are there any good instructional videos or books that would be helpful? Ideally I could find a fishing buddy versed in the art of fly fishing, but as of this moment, I’m on my own.

read the Flyfishing Basics on this site. You will learn a lot.

DOes your fly shop sell Cortland or Redington gear? They have good combo outfits.

WalMart-Wally World - Scientific Anglers combo packages. Look on the FAOL For Sale Board. Why not build a rod? Look at H&H tackle here on the sponsor board. Go to a FAOL Fish-In…you will get more help, advise and learn something about fly fishing everyday than if you wore a sign on your back…“I NEED HELP WITH FLY FISHING” Join the chat room here, be honest and you will get the help and advise you are looking for. Tying flies? Get use to the flyting site and post a question. The Home board is full of stories, thousands (yes, thousands) of articles on A to Z of your new found endeavor. Welcome to a wonderful pastime that can either turn you into a raving fanatic or a normal fly fishing personage…Like J.C. or Jack Hise. You are in good company. Jonezee

Chunky, Cortland also puts together a really good kit at an excellent price. They’re a great company.

I realize this might take up a bit of your time, but, if possible, read a little on fly fishing. I might save asking so many questions. Cute name, you think it up all by yourself or have help?

Hmm… I thought asking questions was the purpose of this forum. As a “site admin”, I would expect you to already know that. If you want to talk about computer science, I am sure my education and experience would leave you in the dust. Everyone is ignorant about something.

Defuzzing…let’s talk golf

Hey ChunkyStool…

What kind of water are you planning on fishing? What target fish and size? You answer those questions and I’ll respond with some links to good examples of low budget gear from good companies.

By the way, your user name is gross.

Hey, hey, hey…watch it buddy. Show some r.e.s.p.e.c.t… You can’t catch fish with computers.

What’s that phrase? OH YEA!
Don’t Bite The Hand That Feeds You!
I’m not a math expert but if your a beginner in flyfishing and you don’t want to play nice, then that doesn’t add up.
