With the publication of this issue of FAOL we mark the beginning of our 17th year on the Internet.
Much has changed in the intervening years since the Ladyfisher put together that first issue and posted it online. At that time the worldwide web was a new thing and the idea that anyone would support or even read an online magazine was highly speculative.
Thanks for the acknowledgement, but in reality if it were not for the BB Admins I’d go bonkers. Well more bonkers at least.
I spend a few hours every other week to slap word docs into html and put it live. Other than that I’m on the hook for when things go bump in the night. Easy peasy.
The BB admins however… Deal with FAOL on a daily basis, call me when I need to be calibrated (yup it happens), and work diligently to keep us as spam free as possible. So here is my shout out to the Admins past and present.

I’m a bit out of touch with our chat host roster I’m afraid, but to them and all the contributors that I am forgetting, THANK YOU.
FAOL may not be flashy, but it is down to earth and reasonably free of all the spam you find on so many sites.
What would make this site better? More victims… um… I mean volunteers. Ya that’s it. FAOL is and only will be as good as it’s members and volunteers allow it to be.

Can’t believe it’s been 17 years! The quality of this site is unsurpassed by no other. Have gained so much knowledge from the staff and contributors that would be impossible to find elsewhere in such a short time. Thanks to Deanna, Neil and all the folks who keep this marvelous site going strong after all this time. And, hope that it may continue for many more years.

I remember meeting JCastwell many moons ago in a forum on America On Line (AOL). It was a fly fishing chat room named “The Watering Hole”. He was on that chat room about a year that I knew of before he and Al Campbell put FAOL together. Once this page was up and running he invited the AOL members over to here. I think that room died shortly after. It had been totally out classed by this site.
Strange, the only other member that I remember making the trek over here with me is my old friend, the late Ron Koenig (Osprey###). I know there are many others, I just can not place their names.
