I mis-spelled the word Pacific in a saltwater board post. Is there anyway to edit this?
I tried advanced edit…and it let me change the title…but when I hit save the change the same mi-spelled title was there.
If not…admin…if you read this would you please correct the spelling?
It’s quite ugly and I am embarrassed about it. I was off key and the “U” key is right next to the “I” key.
Normand is correct. A spell check is provide. Look for it at the end of the top tool bar in the “Post New Thread”
Worst case you’ll have to down load the “ispell” software but it’s painless and will help with spelling errors! Take it from someone who’s got “issues” with spelling.
Greg,
I found the spell checker. Haven’t tried it to see if it works on the “title” of a post or not. But here is what I figure. When you are already in a thread and want to post a “reply” there will be no spell checker. I presume this is because you can always proof read before posting…and you can always go back in after you have posted and “edit” your post.
But when you “post a new thead” there will be an icon for spell checking. Haven’t used it, because before now did not know it was there. On the icon screen, on the first row, that starts out with the word Tahoma…at the end of that row is an icon that is ABC with a check mark on top of it.
Gemrod …my spell checker automatically underlined your name in this reply…ssoooo I just now added your name to it’s dictionary…it didn’t like ssoooo either…I’m using Firefox but don’t know if it’s the browser or the new FAOL changeover that makes it work.
Thanks for the info Phil. I think now will attempt to avoid my normal style, and spell words correctly. Didn’t realize this kind of thing. No big deal. But awakens me to it. Think I will try to change my ways of posting.
Jim
Wish I could offer an explanation. I’ve got it on mine. Don’t know why it doesn’t show up for you? Maybe a good question for Ron Tidd? I see what you mean, but I really do have an “ispell” icon that I can click on and get my work spell checked.
Sometimes this computer stuff is “FM”!
Pretty neat trick you pulled being able to copy and paste the “Post New Reply” page. I couldn’t figure out how to duplicate that trick either!
Well, I made a new thread today. I think it was today. I therefore decided to try the spell checker, as I saw a mis-spelled word in my text. It said I had to download ispell and to click here for to download it. Then Internet Explorer said it blocked ispell from accessing my computer! So I said heck with spell check. I could have said allow it. But got too much crapadoodle on my computer already. So I just won’t use the spell check that is available, IF I download it and set it up. Which I will not do.
