Wooly worm.
I would have to say the rubber legged bluegill spider or the thread bodied ant
British yarn Nympth
Best color olive
best size 10 scud hook
thread midges and brassies are pretty simple.
After teaching 40 kids how to tie midges, wooly worms, wooly buggers, and ugly bugs - I would definately say an ugly bug. We have a variation in this neck of the woods and we call it a Bailey bug - basically four legs (easiest if tied on before separating the legs) and chenille. The kids loved tying this fly and when I added foam to it last week - they finally said that their flies are starting to look professional. I would definately go with the Bailey Bug.
im gonna have to go with a ufo. Its all thread… where’s the difficulty?
green weenie
Guess I’d have to say the San Juan worm.
Allan
hey allan,
you know it requires a delicate touch with the lighter to get the proper taper at the ends. a certain amount of dexterity is necessary to pull this off w/ panache.
;-]
hi mikey,
Burning the ends? That’s the souped-up, grand prix edition (-;
Allan
I think I would say the Humpy, on account that I tie tons of them, also the Foam
WD-40 which was the second FOTW for the first quater 2005
You’ll Have to speak up, I’m wearing a towel
Thanks.
What is the UFO? Never saw one. Is there a picture somewhere.
Ranchwife - I need to take your class. That’s about my speed!
Thanks

Midges. Thread wrap with a wire ribbing. Takes less than a minute to tie one and they work. Ron
Always listen to Ron…

I don’t think that flies come much easier to tie than the San Juan worm. Even soft hackles require a little more work. 8T
You had better learn to be a happy camper. You only get one try at this campground and it’s a real short camping season.
Bare Hook Nymph
(a genuine ‘pattern’)
How can one beat that?

Bloodworm, using a Charles Jardine red hook only, lol
Work is a means for people to afford their fishing.

Han’s I have to give it to you on this one. LOL Back some years ago I was packing some supplies into the back country getting ready for a bunch of dudes coming the following week. We didn’t bring much to eat with us so we went fishing. All we had was an old spinning rod and some gold Salmon Egg hooks. (You ever try and find any type of bait at 9,000 feet?) We were able to catch several trout for dinner out of a small lake just by jigging the hook. They were darn good to eat to after about 10 hours in the saddle without much in our belly.
So you are right with the pattern you talk of. You Da Man.
But the midge is the next in line. Small hook, thread and wire. Easy. Ron

paflyfisher did say “easiest fly to tie” so you bare hookers; well that’t just plain cheating.
I got a bluegill fly that’s floss, color of choice coated with softex. No clue what it’s called.
