Ha! I think the Koi will bite year-round, until the ponds freeze over. I knew a guy in Iowa that would catch big goldfish while icefishing…said they were really aggressive in that cold water!

I was using a 1/80th oz or 1/48th oz microjig…usually under an indicator. Gold or silver chenille body, grizzly marabou (or chickabou) tail. Bright orange or red thread. Any beadhead nymph or streamer (or egg?) would probably work as well.
You can see eyes on the jighead in a couple pictures. An angler in the StL area poured these with sickle hooks and put the eyes on. I wasn’t sure I’d like the sickle hooks, but they actually work pretty well.
