Early Charlie Reading custom rod

Hi,
I have a gorgeous rod built by Charlie Reading of Missouri. Charlie sort of fathered the idea of building feathers into the rods he built -as well as unique cork handles. This one is on a G Loomis GL4 blank. The rod is a 7 ft 9 inch 2 wt. If I fished it, it could not have been more than twice in very controlled situations as I found it too nice to fish

The inscription has only Charlie’s name and the details of the rod blank

It is a collector’s prize for those familiar with Charlie Reading’s work. He now only builds one or two rods, if any at all, each year.

He has been commissioned to build a rod for one of the Presidents. I think it was Bush I.

I now live in Hawaii, and must fly to fishing destinations. Thus, I am selling my collection of 2 piece rods.

I will post photos when I have time. Thought I would offer it here before I put it on eBay.

You’d probably choke. Anyone who would make a serious offer would already have a pretty good idea what it’s worth.

If I’m wrong, then Byron, I’ll give you $75 for it, if you pay shipping from Hawaii… :slight_smile:
