E Glass Rod Swap

I’ve been very busy over the last 3 months and probably for the next couple but March '09 is a long ways away…when are you thinking of officially putting this swap up? And when do you need an answer?

As the first post said, the actual swap will be after the first of the year. I will need some time to collect the money for the blanks, get them cut and shipped to the interested parties. I just thought it would be a great project to keep the shack nasties at bay this winter.

Brad

I’m interested but want to see how this plays out:

Component cost limits (a good idea imho)

Where do we get the blanks, or pay you for a blank?

Time limits (holidays, etc).

SO for now, count me in, but awaiting further details (if that makes sense).

If you’d like to hear another opinion, I’d get cash from everyone involved before ordering the blanks. That way if someone backs out, it won’t cost you anything. Drop out and no-show rates in the fly swaps has been kind of high lately.

Greg

That is exactly the plan. I will get the blanks, pre pay only. Because they are oversize for shipping, it costs $15.00 per package, if you order 1 or 20. After I get them, I will cut in half and ship to the swappers. That should save each of us around &10.00.

You will then be responsible for getting the componets of your choice, staying under the limit set.

Brad

Sounds good

That sounds great.

Sounds great to me also. John

OK guys this thread is driving me nuts. Now this weekend between catching a but load of Kings and Steelhead I am heading up to Home Depot for some wood and start building a rod jig. Do some shopping around online for a rod kit.

See what you all have done to me now…

I hate you all

and wait till Saint Karen ( my lovely wife ) finds out what you guys started. I am sure within a week she will have contracts on all your heads.

YES!
Another one bites the dust!

Brad

I have absolutely no idea how I will get this to fit in with other rod projects I have this winter, but I have been meaning to try the 780 and since I sort of started this whole thing, count me in. I agree that this MUST be a pay-to-play thing and we ALL use the same blank provided by Brad.

Go ahead and laugh Brad I am sure your name will be at the top of the hitman’s list. If it was up to me you would be last on the list cause I love you the best.

Tim, your not ready to start rod building yet; you still have thousands of dollars worth of tying materials you can aquire before you have to move on:p. Brad, would recycled materials count against the dollar total? I have very nice wood spacer from my down-locking reel seat that might be cleaned up and re-used if I’m lucky. I’ve looked at it but haven’t really tried to do anything yet. As I said at Lunkers, I’m interested in this.

Even when I have my waders on?
Brad

Well sure now that you washed the green funk producing cloud out of them

OH man do I want in on this one. And I will fight whom ever for john’s rod. I Saw the work he did on the boo and it was fabulous. Count me in for sure

Hey Bob -

I already spoke up for bassman’s rod. However, since you were his mentor on that build, well …

John

 Brad,
Put me down for one.
And let me know about a date in October for the Micro Fish-In II.
Better yet PM me when You will be home and I’ll give you a call and we can talk about it.

John as a fellow idahoian I will let you have it I guess LOL. You need something like that for all that amazing water you fish. Maybe next year I will hook up with ya and visit some of that water if you would like to. I go up to salmon a lot and so always in the neighberhood

ok folks I just went on line to see how cheap I can build one for. With ferrules it comes out to 20.06 . That does not include shipping. Now do you get really nice componets NO. Do you get a very fishable rod OH YEA. Glass is sweet. Used to build a lot of glass 30 odd years ago. Yes they are slower. Been kicking this one around for awhile (building a glass rod). I am so looking forward to this.
