dun or blue-dun?

I have been looking at buying some capes. When I looked at the pattern for the blue-wing olive, it said that I needed to use blue-dun hackle. But when I looked for a blue-dun cape I could only find dun. Are they the same?

Blue dun is a particular shade of Dun. I think you will be well served to look for a “medium dun”. It will fit and cover many more patterns as well. The shades of the same names between companies can vary as well.

notice that none are called “blue” dun

Great! That clears up a lot of misunderstaning.

That was a term that was used years ago. If you want to see a beautiful dun try to get a look at a dun cree from Collins, they are a work of art from mother nature with a little help from selective breeding.
