Dude's article

Gary
Great article, you always seem to be able to blend a smile in to the message. Way to turn a negative in to a positive. Was the little boat a Gheenoe?

lthrnk…thanks, I appreciate the comments. Actually the little skiff was a Pro-Sport, kind of like a small Boston Whaler. The new Carolina 19’ V-series is being rigged with a poling platform today…hopefully I’ll have it by next week.

You should try to fish with the Dude, we spend more time talking than fishing… But some really amazing things happen when he is around.

Dude you need to tell the story about the drag race. Might make a great story.

He really is a joy to be around. And man can he tie flys.

Dude
Glad you kept the boat in the family, maybe that is where it was supposed to be.

I am glad Linda can fish again. That will make for more stories.

Harold

Linda is one incredible woman!

And that little guy, is just as cute as they come!!

Trouts don’t live in ugly places

Thanks HH and Betty.
Harold, not sure if I should do a story on the “drag race”, it’s illegal, even for dolphin.
And Betty, I’ll pass the message on to those mentioned. Ian is one of seven…aaarrggghhhh!!!

Nice story Gary. This is another good example of when watching someone else fish can be more fun than doing it yourself. Love to watch kids fish. This weekend is my local fishing derby for kids and all year long I look forward to helping out.

jed

Jed, how about a few pictures and a short story? Might help a group just starting someplace else.

Yeah, what Jim said!

I know that the sentiments felt by people who write on that topic are genuine and heartfelt. But it’s hard to express them without becoming a little “sappy”, if you’ll excuse my using that word. But that one was well done and I really enjoyed it.

BFB…you just made my day!

Will do, after the “Take Your Kid Fishing” event on June 3rd. This derby is a simple event. I might try and combine bothe events into a “how to” kit for those interested in doing an event.

Here is the short version of the Kiwanis event.

  1. The Kawanis gets out some fliers to the local elementary schools and to the local stores.

2.The Kawanis takes some money and buys some fish.

  1. They put up a chicken wire fence at the top and bottom of a pool and throw the fish in the night before.

  2. A fire is lit early the morning of and kids come and fish, throw them back, take them home or eat them on the spot.

  3. I hang out, bait hooks, untangle lines, give a little instruction, take photos and ooh and ahhh over the kids efforts.

  4. There are a bunch of rod and reels and tackle boxes that are given to kids who catch fish with tags, to kids who catch any fish or for any kid that looks like they might benefit from a prize.

Parents and adults are invited to the event but discouraged from fishing. We try hard to remind parents that their kids should be holding the rods and casting, not the adults. Most adults get it.

I forgot to mention Dude, your grandson is too cute for words. If you could bottle that formula you could get rich.

Thanks Jed, younger daughter has four boys and they’re all good lookin’ kids. Linda and I can’t wait 'til they’re all teenagers at the same time, paybacks are a, well, you know…and too smart sometimes for his own good. But the kid catches on quickly.

Another home run, Gary!

GOD BLESS AMERICA
USMC - VIETNAM VET

tsk tsk, dude–you’ve created another pirate!

Thanks Mohawk!
Dave, I’ll have my own crew when they all get older…but they threaten mutiny everytime all seven of 'em show up!

Gary, I’m not surprized one bit. You and Linda are as big-hearted as they come.

Congrats on getting a new boat. Can’t wait to see her.

Ed

Ed,
Lets make plans and we can steal the boat. I think we should wait until Gary has the poling platform on.

On second thought, its better to not steal it. Let Gary own it and he can pay for gas and pole for us and show us all the hot spots.

jed

Jed, Ed’s seen the pit bulls…

I should have the new skiff by Saturday, so they just said. The tower is installed, they are just waiting for the fiberglass platform, then it goes to back to the dealer for the other stuff tomorrow (Friday).

Dude

The pit bulls do not scare me, it is Linda that I would be afraid of. She tamed you that woman has my respect and admiration. No way would I want to even make fun of her boat.

Harold

It ain’t the “making fun of it” that would send her on an assassination mission, it would be huntin’ down Jed for stealin’ her boat…after all, she was the one that picked it out.
ps…she controls the pit bulls also.
