"Drive Hammered, Get Nailed."

Does anyone else have to stop and think about this one for a while before they see that it is a caution about driving?

My first impression is that this is what many red blooded American boys and girls have in mind for New Year’s Eve. I guess, as a figure of speech,“getting nailed” has drifted and no longer unequivocally implies being arrested. Some figures like “screw up” have managed to climb out of the gutter into respectability. “Nailed” seems to be going the other way.

they put it up all over the freeways on the electronic billboards every holiday weekend here in az.
