On Spring Break in Minnesota this year, I noticed a drink that just sounded too tasty to pass up. It was called Nuts & Berries. Sound like a drink you wouldn’t want your friends to know you were drinking? Maybe…but it was delicious! Here’s the recipe:
Equal parts of:
-Frangelico
-Chambord
-Godiva White Chocolate Liquer
-Cream or Half-n-Half
Shake with cubed ice.
I’m not surprised.
Mine are: Martini- traditional stemmed martini glass or( when in the mood and “on the rocks” (I, know :)} it’s a heavy cut crystal rocks tumbler. Single malt ( one cube) - the same heavy cut crystal tumbler. Beer- thin pilsner glass ( tall tapered) contents with about 15% head/foam. Cognac - LARGE snifter. Bourbon ( one cube) , the same heavy cut crystal tumbler. Moonshine- right outta the jar and then pass it around. Port- small, tall stemmed goblet ( resembles a tall, SMALL, red wine glass).
Glassware does make a difference. Psycho semantic or what, cognac ain’t the same out of a paper cup.

Probably not too appropriate here but what the heck. It has made the rounds. I will throw it out here anyway.
The Bin Laden-2 shots and a splash of water.

I hear that one burns the chest, then goes straight to your head…or is that vice versa??
out of the bottle for the jw, a proper pint glass for my guiness !!!
I use a tiny spray bottle that came with a bottle of Skyy Vodka.
To be filled with Vermouth, a little spray in the glass ( or more depending on taste)
wipe the rim with a lemon rind or as my mother did, bend/twist the lemon skin so the oil spritzes the glass before filling.
Mom taught me… clean shave and shoes and how to make the perfect Martini.
Dad taught me to cook and fish trout.

Also forgot to mention: for the love of all that is holy, please STIR my darn martini!
The glass definitely enhances the drink. While I love the classic martini glass, the Erie Cafe in Chicago has some extra large ones that are very thin and elegant. For beer, like Marco, I prefer a pilsener glass, unless, of course, you’re drinking Bud Lite or something similar. The can is then totally appropriate.
For Bud Lite or something similar, a plastic funnel and hose are also appropriate.
AND, I almost forgot. I once was in the “Julary” as my Italian partner called it, business and once took in trade a streling silver 6 0z pocket flask. Still have and use it. Whatever I choose to put in it tastes GREAT astream.

One of my favorites is called a “Stonewall”… Highball glass filled with crushed ice, a health splash of your favorite rum, then fill the remaining space with a nice dry hard cider. Add a small wedge of lime and just a scrape or two of fresh nutmeg and enjoy. Perfect after a hot day on the stream.
myself, i prefer a nip or 3 of cognac. just that on ice is enough. pendletons whiskey is great too. beer, im a samual adams guy, but their best one is the winter lager, and it isnt around in the summer…
Well, since beer is also “in”, it’s Fosters or Stella for me. Sam Adams, Fat Tire and the “artsy” beers are a bit perfuuuumy for me. I do respect a pint-o-Guinness with a plate of Haggis and the sound of "pipes"every now and then expecially during Robert Burns Days in Glasgow.

PS: I was lying bout the “Haggis”
I have never understood how you can get dryer than gin on the rocks.
Sorry, I just gotta do this.
Real Americans drink Jack Daniels straight!
He, he, he he, he.
I was coming back from merry old England one day mabe a score of years ago and I was seated next a chap from York (England that is). He said “I hear you Yanks like a spirit called Jack Daniels.”
“Careful,” says I. “It is an aquired taste.”
“I got to try it,” says he.
“Stick to Glenfidich,” says I. “Bourbon will kill those not raised on it.”
“I’ll have a couple of Jack Daniels,” he says to the stewardess. “How do you Yanks take it?”
“Up,” says I.
So he gets his Jack and pours one of the little bottles into a plastic tumbler and holds it up in cheer. “To you Yanks, says he.”
He tips it up, turns immediately red, bends over and spits it on the floor. “Blimey, how can you people drink that,” as he started wiping his tounge with a napkin.
“Told you,” says I. Nice quiet flight home.
Godspeed,
Bob
Certainly demonstrating his “class”. I once had the misfortuine to slam a shot of Malort and even then, the thought of “spit” never entered my mind.

No martinis for me. I prefer some Pappy Van Winkles bourbon over 1 ice cube…that’s it, only 1. If that’s not readily available, Basil Haydens or Woodford Reserve will do. Oh, did I tell you, I like bourbons.
Feel free to add to this. IMHO, these drinks should be paired with:
Scotch - one or two good friends
Bourbon - a good bird dog
Martini- a beautiful woman
Bob,
Funny you should mention that. My lovely wife just greeted me with a delicious beer based goulash and she also discovered several rare 40oz bottles of Stella Artois. A major portion of the goulash has been consumed along with 60 or so oz of the Stella. This is becoming my Favorite beer.
Beer and goulash- unbeatable combination.
