id say it looks pretty good! the only thing i do differently is i add some markings on the back to give it some detail and then coat it with clear adhesive caulk to lock the color and then sally handsens to lock in the caulk

Great job!

Nice popper, should work wonders.

Why add markings to the back of a fly when that back will never be submerged?

If anything I would add markings to the belly of the foam to let it stick out from the background.

In nature creatures have a coloring to make them less visible, sometimes called reverse shading. If you want your offering to stand out don’t color it exactly as a natural. Instead of making it look like a healthy fish right side up, make it look like one on it’s side, like a dieing minnow. Just my opinion.

looks great

Thanks for the coments guys, I was thinking about decorating the popper a bit with some lines or other painted on top and on the sides of the popper, any suggestions are welcome

Carpcrazy,

Very good job! You have what looks almost like a copy of the Rapala Pop-R which was a very productive surface popper. It came in several different colors, but, the most productive for me when I used them during my bass tournament days (12+ years ago) was a black back, chrome sides and a white belly. Of course the original Pop-R had a set of treble hooks dressed with white feathers on the rear.

Nice job

a sharpie maker should work very well
