Dragon Fly Nymph

My local bass pond is full of damsel and dragon flies. Catching lots of big Bluegills on damsels nymphs but only small bass. Would like to try dragon nymphs. I am too lazy to tye the woven and/or built up body nymphs. Anyone have a good simple dragon fly nymph pattern?? Thanks

try foam ??

I got a REALLY simple one from my first fly-tying kit.

Use whatever hook you like, I like a #8 or #10 streamer hook.
Tie on some bead chain (metal for weight or plastic) eyes.
Use olive chenille for the body. I like to tie it in behind the eyes, and wrap it down to the bend and back.
Tie in and wrap a hackle behind the eyes.
Bring the chenille forward through the hackle (preferably on top) and take it between the eyes.
Tie off and clip excess.
Whip finish and cement to taste.

Make sense?

I caught a 4 lb channel cat on a #10 with metal eyes. Very fun.

A dragonfly nymph is one of the many things an olive/brown woolly bugger suggests. I have some WBs with bead chain eyes in place of a single bead or conehead and they do well – whatever the fish takes them to be. They’re a simple tie, and, in my opinion (for what it’s worth), probably all that I’ll ever need.

I’m a big believer in the power of suggestion (as well as woolly buggers).
