Hello boys and girls, I recently bought one of those Cordura covered double rod /reel cases (BW I think was the brand name). I really like it because I can easily transport two rods down to the stream or strap it to my float tube with the shoulder strap. The problem is this. I don’t always want to cut off the fly (and possibly droppers) when I am finished using that particular rod. If I leave the fly attached it gets caught when I put the rod away. Is there a trick to this? Thanks in advance, RR

I’m wondering if short pieces of those tiny little Latte Straws pushed over the point of the hook would work. Maybe those little floats call Corkies with the hook point embedded. Other than that, I’m at a loss. Good luck in your quest.
P.S. Maybe a small homemade piece of sheepskin fleece with a velcro closure.

Take the fly and leader around the top of the reel spool and then back up to the second stripping guide and hook the fly onto the support of the second guide (NOT THE CERAMIC RING). Next take the line that is attached to the fly and going around the bottom of the reel spool and wrap it three times around the rod and finish by over lapping the first stripping guide. This will keep the leader next to the rod and will not allow tangles.

We wind the bug to the tip top, break apart the rod, put the tip top next to the reel and put it in the case that’a’way.
Droppers(?)…you’re on your own.

I will be using the rod/reel case this seasons, and lee’s method sounds good. Anyone else use that?
Thanks for your responses. Tim, I have been trimming my barbs for 30 + years. Poop-bah, I know that dog but I’m talking about 2 rods in and out of the carrier 10+ times a day while on my float tube. Dick, I think you have the right idea. Thanks, RR
