I little while ago I posted that I double over braided line and tie a nail knot with it to get a loop, and some people may have expressed interest. Dont use it. In my testing, the braid cannot grip the fly line. Even a albright knot will easily slip when using braid. Sorry for giving bad advice, I should have done a little more research.
Anthony; Welcome to the realm of “mere mortals” We all get it wrong at sometime or other. Situation Normal. Jax
Getting Old has it’s advantages. It slows you down just enough to get your timing for tightening into a trout Just Right.
Anthony,
We DO do that, to make tiny loops in our shooting heads. However we “fuzz up” the ends of the braided stuff so it will “tangle” when we “whip” the end (s) to the line. Maybe not absolutely fool-proof, but pestering sails on LC13 should be test enough for most applications.
Re-read your post and are not sure we understand. If you are useing braided material, as in flyline core or such, we use the above method successfully. Fraying the ends seems the key?
If you are talking braided MONO for loops, this post was a waste.

I am talking about taking a peice of power pro braided line and tying a knail knot with it directly to the fully coated fly line. I cant get it to grip down on the coating like mono would.
The dacron seems to work (which is what I assume you are referrin to) braided line designed to be mainline for bait fishing seems to have a slick coated to aid in casting.
