hot spot/egg sac - Uni-stretch Chinese Red
body 1mm foam yellow
rib - tying thread
wing - deer hair bleached
legs - barred rubber fine
hackle - barred tan

Part 1

mash barb, start thread, tie in Uni-stretch and wrap back to bend

wrap egg sac, tie off

taper foam strip (not quite gap width), tie in

wrap foam forward; rib body, leave tag end of foam long

clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a clump of deer; tie in

Part 2

move thread to eye, poke a hole in the foam; pull up from underneath and secure at eye

pull foam back, tie down

add legs

tie in hackle and wrap forward; tie off, SHHAN

trim hackle underneath, trim foam & legs

ventral

Thanks. For a hook that small, I probably should have used .5mm foam to cut down on bulk a bit; next time. Here’s a Skwala version with a foam egg sac
