The back is really going downhill fast. I go in for more MRI scans on Wednesday and then off to neurosurgeon number 1 on March 22nd. Legs go numb then come screaming back to life along with feeling weak, knees unlock, feet burn. Now I am also having worse pain between the shoulder blades down to just under the last rib so the thoracic back is getting worse too.
Doc has taken me off of all duties except operating a fork lift and stand up tug but those too soon will be a thing of the past. I am on strict orders to rest on my days off with my hours at work not to exceed 40 hours per week. It is difficult to sleep or as you might be able to tell even sit at this computer typing. Starting to affect my disposition in a negative way. Heck I have a car that needs inspected by the end of the month but I can’t even replace the alternator and brakes that it needs for that. The last little excursion to post pictures of that local creek I was looking at cost me dearly.
We are going to do the rest, therapy and shots before they decide if surgery will even work in my case. I am being told that most cases like mine require a reinforcement of the spinal column. don’t know what this will do for my fly fishing, canoing, camping plans but it can’t be good. The waiting is so dang tough to handle. At least my employer is willing to work with me and I have been put on Family Medical Leave Act coverage for my time off.
Really stinks that it hurts to even try to cast a fly rod. It won’t stop me though as I refuse to let it get me down.
Erik, sit back and take two deep breaths and then do what the doctor tells you. Become a couch patoto and watch Oprah every day( well maybe you needn’t go that far). It’s your best shot at recovering and returning to your normal life.
Prayers continue &, as I’m sure you would expect, so will my insults & teasing.
We’ll get you through this one way or the other Eric…but it ain’t gonna be “painless” if you know what I mean.
You know the number buddy…use it anytime.
Mike
We all know how much you love your job, but my friend as hard as it is to say, it’s time to get YOU fixed and well and not worry about the job.
Buddy, my wife is kinda like you are, even as a discipline coordinator she loves working with the kids even when they’re in trouble but even with three fractured vertebrae in her back, the neuropathy which effects her feet and legs, she just don’t quit. Times I don’t know how she even moves.
Take care and you know we’re all pulling for ya. Keep us posted.
Thinking of you Nighthawk. Listen to what the doctors tell you, and do as they advise. They’ll get you through this as best as possible, though it may not seem like it at the time. Healing can take time, but give it time and you will heal. Hoping all the best comes your way soon.
I cannot tell you all thank you enough for your support. You will never know how much it means to me!
The View would definitely get my blood pressure up so I will watch something much more soothing like fly fishing or Gold Fever on the Outdoor Channel. As a side note we were told the other day that if there is a government shut down we may be forced to work without pay. I really despise being used as a pawn and threatened.
I feel your pain Eric , I pulled a muscle in my back that has taken 4 months to ease up so that I can just now lift my arm above my head again without pain. There was no position that I could assume that let me be pain free. The older we get the longer we take to heal. I am hoping that Its all better by fishing season. Doc says to take it easy and only lift beer mugs with my left hand. Luckily I am retired and have unlimited access to beddy bye when ever I get tired.
My Youngest boomarang daughter and her fiance are living with us for a spell, something about saving for their own place LOL ( probably only be here for 40 or so years ) so I am getting them to do all, and I do mean all, the lifting. My back was getting better when I let my pride get the better of me and toughed it out by lifting some grocerys into the van. Whammo another 2 months of Pain was the result. You Take it easy, let the kids and whoever else is around to help you. I am no longer too proud to let the grocery boy help me to the car with my purchases. I bought a back brace that helps when the pain is bad. I will add my prayer to your list .
