If so how to break it? Last year, I fished at least one evening during the week, and probably once or twice about every weekend. I deer hunt also, and all during deer season, while I was sitting on my stand, I’d think about fly fishing. This year, I’ve probably been fishing 3 times, the first time it was still pretty cold for warmwater fishing and I caught maybe 3 , the next time I caught 9 and then the next weekend, I didn’t catch anything. I guess one reason I haven’t gone is lately I’ve just been wanting to play and spend time with the kids when not working and my oldest girl is 4 and her attention span for fishing is short and she wants to play and I’m afraid she’ll get snakebit.
JEC,
While I’m as close to a fishing addict as anyone I know, don’t sweat this.
You’ll never regret any time spent with your little ones.
If you only fish once or twice a year until she’s older, you’ll have many great memories to think on when you get back to it.
Enjoy them while you can. They grow fast. The fish will still be there.
Good Luck!
Buddy
I guess I have a short attention span too. When I’m fishing, I’m always looking for a good place to hunt. When I’m freezing in the deer stand I’m thinking of casting over rising trout. When I’m in my house in the middle of winter, I just want to get out.
Have to agree with Buddy on time well spent.
I take grandkids fishing on occation, and find that I shouldn’t take them to where I normally fish. I take them to ponds full of gills spawning and use a fly and casting bubble. Have grand kids who will always go fishing because of it.
Guess we all have short attention spans. Is that why they made butterfly nets?
If flyfishing were a sin, I’de be the devil’s right hand man.
