This is a pattern based off of the very nice diving Game Changer post by Michael Rios on FB a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t tied very many Game Changer patterns, but I’m pretty comfortable carving Balsa wood popper, diver, and frog patterns. I carved the head out of Balsa, colored it, and added eyes and a coat of epoxy. I tied in Fly Lipps on a size 2 wide-gap streamer hook and tied in a Game Changer link to the back of the hook. Then I tied the tail with fibers from a make-up brush on a size 4 hook to act as a stinger hook for short strikes. I tied in three 1/2" articulated shanks with chartreuse Chockletts Game Changer Chenille and colored like a baby bass (sort of) with markers. It looks fantastic in the water and should be a great producer. https://gifyu.com/image/SlvdN
Can’t wait to see your creation but the link doesn’t work. Dennis
Thanks for the heads-up. I fixed the link.Jim Smith
It was worth the wait Jim. Great looking pattern. Dennis
Thank you for the kind words. These guys look great in the water. They dive about 2" inches below the surface on the strip retrieve and wiggle like a real injured fish. Well worth tying upa few even if you just use plain popper/diver heads with Fly Lipps tied onto the hook to get it to dive and gives it the great action.
Great, James!Bass that seem uninterested in most patterns get really aggressive for Gamechangers. I experienced that again at two different locations in Florida last week. It’s not a gimmick…they REALLY work!
Thanks for the kind words, Dave. Bass fishing here in Central Florida is a bit different than what I was accustomed to, but there are LOTS of big bass here. The last four times I went out in my kayak on the 100-acre lake I live on I caught at least one five+ lbs fish.
