Disney Bass Fishing

I’ll be at Disney with the Family 2/26-3/2. Anyone have any helpfull hints regarding Bass fishing?

You can check out this web site, it should have links to the Orlando area. I am sure you will get some great tips here however.

Troutmark,

If you can afford it, and they have space available, try to get onto one of the Disney property lakes.

They require you to use their guides, it’s all closely controlled catch and release fishing, and I’ve heard it’s pricey, but they catch some nice fish.

Actually they catch some HUGE bass. Double digit type fish.

A friend went a few years ago, he’d always dreamed of a ten pound fish.

Brought back pictures of FOUR of them he caught in one day. Largest was a bit over twelve. And, yes, all on flies.

Otherwise, Florida is ‘the’ place for bass. Almost any body of water has them there, and some mighty big bass are swimming around in some pretty unlikely places. Lots of ‘perfect’ (read shallow) fly fishing bass water there.

Good Luck!

Buddy

Watch our for 'gators! Especially if you’re walking shorelines of lakes early in the morning when they are sunning themselves.

Joe

Joe can ya catch a gator on a fly? LOL

I guess you could try to. Let us know how it turns out for you. LMAO

Joe

ScubaTim

Sure. Just tie on a fly that looks like a tourist and cast it towards the shoreline in the early morning.

Troutmark

Good luck down there. Big bass in shallows on a fly sounds like a blast!

Double-digit largemouth bass that you can fish for at Disney World? Catch & Release to boot? Wow, that place really does have a Magic Kingdom!

Joe
“Better small than not at all.”

The only thing is: The bass make all kinds of mechanical noises as they sing “It’s a Small World”.

I darn near spit my afternoon coffee out of my nose when I read this. You guys just aren’t right:D

For some reason, that really struck me as funny this afternoon.

Jeff

What’s so special about this afternoon? The reason it struck you as funny is because your mind is almost as twisted as ours have become. Living on flat terrain is what does it to us, I’m told by competent authority.

The best advice Troutmark could follow is to make sure someone in his party knows the Heimlich Maneuver, should they find themselves eating lunch at a Disney World picnic table with Bassyaker!

After you catch some bass at Disneyworld, make sure and partake of the great German Food Buffet there. Polka Music too!!!
Doug

The family took the boat across the lake, and I can honest say that there are some really nice bass in that lake.
If you walk arround the dock you will see quite a few.

You can take the boat ( it’s free ) from the front of magic kingdom ,to the other side of the lake. Once on the other side you can either take the train,or boat back.

As far as fishing it goes, you would do best to call disney directly, they must have a 1-800 number.

Here is a tip or two if you are going with your kids;
-Bring waterbottles
-bring face cloths to cool off the kids when they are cranky.

  • bring healthy snacks; ex. granola bars ( energy food )
It really shows when they eat junk food, trust me you will not like it, they get tired, and cranky.
If they eat crappy food, they get tummy aches, and the other stuff that comes along with that!

I hope you get a chance to fling a fly.

Have a great trip!

My wife and I fished with a Disney guide at Lake Buena Vista near the Contemporary Hotel. They offer two-hours charters. We caught and released 53 bass to about 6 pounds in two hours. Most of the waterways in the park have good populations of bass and huge bluegill.

I would try a black mouse pattern with unuaslly large ears. I’ve heard those bass there can stand Mickey Mouse, and they’ll hit him any chance they get.

Seriously though Good Luck! Catch some big ones and report back to us.
