In honor of ISON which, like Icarus, flew a bit too close to the sun, a few Comets
Silver
Gold
Chartreuse
I’ve had good luck with these for shad, in a heavier version, with non-tox underbody and dumbell eyes. My orange hackle was lacking, so I took some feathers from a cheapie white hen cape and did the Koolaid dye in the microwave.
With bead chain eyes, they usually ride point down (tilting the tail helps, too). I was looking at your video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYvmyuNCnGE and saw that you tied them on the other side - how do yours ride?
Regards,
Scott
ps - I really like the look of the purple CDL; may head off to the store for some grape Koolaid
Took your advice and did look again; filled the tub and the tied the silver on some 8lb fluoro - rode point down and tracked straight. The canted tail does make a difference, at least it has for the 15 years I’ve been fishing them
was there a current in tub, try in a current and watch them will flip. in a tub is different than real world… this spring will have to do some vids of flies under water…
