Dinner for about a buck fifty

I found an eggplant (75 cents at the market Saturday) in the fridge so I turned it into a meal! Mama’s working late an she don’t like this anyway.

Add a green salad and it’s the perfect meal before going fishing for gills. Hopefully I’ll have pics when I get back.

KEWL! EGGPLANT!!

Looks good, Joe…but you’re a little too far for me to drive for dinner

or a side of okra!

Aw, man! I settled for a Killit Skillit when there was eggplant hangin’ around?!?!

Joe do you remember when the Grade three teacher caught you chewing gum in class? HUH! DO YA :?::?::?:

It doesn’t look like you do and its no different here at FAOL

Remember to Bring enough for everyone next time.

Eggplant??..YUK!!..I’ll stick with the Killit Skillet, thank you!

I think I’d try a bite…

The eggplant Parmesan must have been magical, because I caught 58 fish tonight, and all of them on the Chicago Leech. I lost the first one to a submerged tree, and it did not have a red bead. I think they were just keying in on the leech pattern, and didn’t care what the jewelry looked like. The fishing was so hot that I caught a fish on 90% of the casts made tonight. Here’s the second fly and some of the fishies:

Most of the fish were chunky gills:

A did manage to catch about 4 or 5 small LMB’s:

There were a healthy number of crappie in the 9-10" range like this:

All in all it was a ton of fun for two hours. I wonder if the fish would have been bigger if I made SPAM Parmesan? Hmmmmmmm… Maybe next week.

Great food, fishing and company like that, I will be up there shortly!

I am ALL FOR cheap eggplant. As long as I never, ever have to eat any of it. I tried it once, thinking the woman was worth it. I was wrong. But, thankfully, I survived both the meal and the girl.

So far.

I am bringing a ‘surprise’ for the CW Fish-In. (food of course)

Joe,
I’m glad you caught a lot of fish and had a lot of fun!
Doug

I wonder if Joe was wearing waders?

Nope! It was a very nice small lake with nice access all around eh edges. Most of the fish were caught while casting parallel to the shoreline about 5-10’ from the edge, and stripping the leech fairly quickly with 12" strips. As soon as the leech hesitated it was fish-on!

I was thinking more about the waders “blowing out” after such a meal… lol

75 cents for the eggplant? I paid $3.99/lb last weekend in the supermarket. I’m thinking it’s time to move soon

Fish-In at Joe’s house!
(I’ll bring the okra pickles and boiled peanuts. Oh yeah, and White Cheddar Cheez-Its!)

In about 10 days a dozen eggplants will go in the garden. Also 37 tomatoe, and 31 pepper plants. Also the squash, purple benas, cucumbers and whatever else I ordered will go in.

The cool weather things have been in for a while.

Joe -

It looks delicious. Do you think it would work for trout ???
