Dick Smith Streamer SBS

Michigan tyer’s take on Joe Brooks Blonde; he preferred to tie it unweighted.

hook - Dai Riki 700 #4
thread - Danville flat wax rusty brown
tail - bucktail yellow/Flashabou copper
body/head - Krystal Flash copper (appears that the original used something like Diamond Braid; DIY version here)
wing - bucktail yellow/Flashabou copper

Part 1

mash barb, start thread

even tips on a clump of bucktail, measure (hook length)/ tie in/trim

tie in some Flashabou

tie in some KF; twist to form rope, wind forward; tie down (don’t trim)

even tips on another clump of bucktail, measure (tips to tail)/ tie in/trim

Part 2

tie in some more Flashabou at the eye

re-twist KF and wrap head (not in the original; just thought it looked cool); tie off/trim

pull Flashabou back over wing, tie down

whip finish, SHHAN

Scott

Interesting tie Scott. I can see a more golden color for around here, maybe a black/purple, chartreuse/white also. I like the use of KF as a body material.

Mike,

Speaking of chartreuse, here’s a hackled variation

hook - Dai Riki 700 #4
thread - Danville flat wax chartreuse
tail - bucktail chatreuse/Flashabou gold
body - Plastic Canvas yarn gold
wing - bucktail chatreuse/Flashabou gold
collar - hackle chartreuse

Scott

Thanks Scott, as I was organizing, again, my hooks I realize I have enough streamer hooks to tie until about 2090!
Mike

Mike,

As long as I live to be 140, I do, too.

Regards,
Scott

I might just have to do some of these as well. Thanks, Scott!

I’ve used krystal flash to substitute for flat sparkle braid as well. I don’t have any copper flashabou, but I do have copper krystal flash, and will probably use that.

Nice to know I’m in good company Scott!
Mike
