Desktops

We met David in Yellowstone last summer at a book signing. Bought the book and a few prints. This is the Screensaver I’m using now to keep the heat out of the house. Jim

Ain’t it though? Every time I think about going there again, I chicken out. I love catching those McClouds, though.

Dang! Who taught that kid how to fish?

Here’s 2 that I use both from the Michigan Fish-In.

Bill -

That second one ( the tank crossing ) reminds me of the wonderful times I had at Camp Grayling doing summer camp with the Indiana National Guard. Thanks, a lot !!

One summer I was the gunner on a 105 Howitzer. It got really cold one night, and the pantel ( panoramic telescope ) used for sighting on aiming stakes for indirect fire got fogged up. We were on a target area about five miles out. I was having a terrible time seeing the stakes but thought things were going okay. Our forward observers were right on the money adjusting fire and we were going at it pretty good with a variety of targets. After about ten minutes, we got a “cease fire” order from HQ.

The word came down that someone had been hitting a tourist cabin with their airburst, which is what we were firing with our battery. Geeeessssh - did I feel bad, and was I ever scared.

A little while later, we heard that some nice lady from N.Y.C. had accepted the CO’s apology and enough bucks to cover the stuff she had out on the clothes line that got kind of “shredded.” No one was injured, but they were getting out of town fast.

Later in the morning, we finally got word that the offender was a 155 Canon from another battery. Whew !!

John

John, thanks for the great chuckle this morning. Serious though, let’s go fishing.

John,
That sign was just past the drive of the motel we stay at each year, I got a Good Chuckle out of it.
It’s on the Northbound road out of Grayling

My desktop. A message from God.

End of a wonderful long day fishing, I thank God for it.

Here’s what I have currently at work (the larger version) taken a couple of years ago while fishing on the Deschutes…

Photo I took on my last Montana trip currently on my comp.

Wow, this is now on my desktop…such a wonderful reminder of where I’d rather be right now.

Changed desktops today - this was taken the same day I got the pics of the antelope.

P.S. For those who haven’t seen it on the Fishing Reports Forum, here is a slideshow from that day. Click on the photo and enjoy.

Wish I could run the slideshow on my desktop !!

Thanks John. Haven’t really had much of a desire to think or talk fishing, let alone fish so haven’t been here much at all. Anyway, I’ve been trying to talk myself back into getting excited about fishing again so I’ll try to hang around a little more. I think the midwest is finally getting to me after 2.5 years. I’m longing for the moutains of home.

Here’s a nice desktop picture (taken before I got my XTi).

Back side of Mt. Timpanogos from the Silver Lake Trail. Wasatch Mt. Range, UT.

Another new desktop from Birch Creek Valley. Found these critters yesterday afternoon.

As the commercial goes:

Canon Rebel Xsi $799 ( $640 at Circuit City )
Canon EF 55-250 4-5.6f IS lens $299
Lowepro Camera Case $29.95
new desktop PRICELESS.

This desktop pic and those in the slideshow were all shot off hand at somewhere around 200-300 yards on full auto and full telephoto ( film camera equivalent 400mm ) in good light. I’m becoming a huge fan of the Canon Rebel Xsi.

Best count I got, when the herd was pretty well strung out, was around 80 to 85. Mostly cows with a fair number of calves.

John

Had some unsettled weather coming home from fishing Birch Creek yesterday.

John

That looks pretty gnarly John. Springtime in Idaho. Have you ever fished Summit Creek, over the hill from there? I did once, about twenty years ago. Weather just about like you’re showing here. I guess there’s still trout in it.

This is my current desktop. The photo was taken a couple months ago but just cropped and enlarged yesterday.

Some other folks out there must have some neat desktops to display here ??
