Hey everyone, I am going to be in the Denver area for 5 weeks next year (end of Feburary through March 2011). Any ideas/suggestions on fishing opportunities? I will have the weekends and if there are short trips I may be able to get out during the afternoon. Let me know what you guys think?
All along the South Platte is good from Deckers south of town to Confluence Park downtown. There are some good sized browns being taken in the southern part of the metro area from the Platte. Down around Deckers is Blue Ribbon water being C&R only, flies or lures. Some big fish in there, too. Deckers is an hour or less from most parts of town.
On weekends, a trip up into the hills just west of Boulder on South Boulder Creek below Gross Reservoir can yield some nice fish as well.
To top that off, there are lakes all over the metro area with lots of warm water types of fish.
Look me up while you are here and we will wet a line.
