Deciding between a Lamson, Ross & Nautilus Reel?

Looking to get a new, nice reel for my T3 rod. I’m considering these brands, Lamson Litespeed. Ross Evolution and Nautilus Feather Weight +. I like all three and they look awesome. I need to know from people that own them, one or all which they would buy? Thanks

Can’t comment on the others, but I’m sold on Ross customer service. I had one that the stop screw on the drag adjustment broke. They fixed it and fed exed it back to me in a week no questions asked. I called them and they said to just send it back. We had a fishing trip planned in about 10 days and asked if they could rush it back to me. The guy said he would. I was almost prepared to be buying a new reel as I didn’t believe they would get it turned around that quick. They came through.

I’m sure others have equally good service, but the guys at Ross did take care of me.

i’ll mention the galvan standard as well. classic looking reel. outstanding drag. haven’t had to use yet, but have heard their customer service is excellent. their open back series looks great as well.

I have Galvan OB which I love… its real sweet. I have three Lamsons, and they are OK. My next will definitely be the Ross Nautilus. I had a play with one in New Zealand last trip, and in my view it is superior to the others in feel and looks. It is a pretty subjective opinion, just based on what feels nicest to me in the artistic sense. They are all good reels.

Don’t think you can go wrong here.

Pick one and go fishing. The fish won’t care, even a little bit.

Certainly not a decision to agonize over.

Good Luck!

Know nothing about the Nautilus Feather Weight so can?t comment. Had a Ross Cimarron and did not like it. Would never buy another Ross. Have two Lamsons and love them both. However, changing spools on the Lamsons is such a hassle that I think of them as reels on which you can not change spools. All of the reels you mentioned are quality reels so you can?t really go wrong. It?s just a matter of personal preference.

Yes, I’m really leaning towards the Nautilus Feather Weight. I just want a reel that is a work of art. I’m thinking it may be just the one.

It is!

GusG-I don’t know if you should discount ross just because of the Cimarron.
I have 2 evolutions, and their drags and machining are top notch.
Brad Befus at Ross is absolutely excellent to deal with as well.

I have both Nautilus and Ross reels. Don’t have a Lamson. I like the Ross reels and the Nautilus feather wt; however, the only gripe I kind of have with the Nautilus ( I use it on my 8 wt.) is that the drag knob is really smaller than I would like it to be. Fishing in cold weather for steelhead, my fingers get really cold and it is hard to grab onto the drag knob. The Ross is better.

Someone said Galvin and think they have a larger drag knob – a galvin will probably be my next reel purchase.

Otherwise, I would agree with the other posts – they are all pretty good and you can’t go wrong. Just decide what your main use will be and take the plunge.
