Dear LF,
Russell-Hobbs is an upmarket electrical appliance manufacture of long standing here in the UK.
As toasters go it should be ok, but with the way things go these days, their products maybe assembled
for them in China. They do have a good reputation, but maybe you should have bought that toaster from
them 20 or 30 years ago. You may have to resort to the methods used by my mother, get one small boy,
a long handled toasting fork ( made, I think, out of galvanised fencing wire and about 2.5 ft long), park him in front
of a blazing coal fire, and tell him his share of the toast will be the burnt pieces. Needless to say I became an expert at
manual toasting.
Hope the Russell-Hobbs fulfils your obviously pressing need.
Fresh raspberry preserves are indeed wonderful, but next time I go to Lawrence I’ll pick up an extra jar of grapefruit marmalade, fine cut with 10% gin for you! There’s a marvelous little British shop there that stocks this incredible concoction!! That on some hot toast, and a cup of good tea, just can’t be beat!!
Now your would probably get arrested for child endangerment, cooking on a galvanized appliance. Of course, in the UK it would be galvanised, so that might be OK. <rolling eyes> I love to have fun with the English language. Do you knowwhy they don’t use galvanized steel to make ships? None of the yard workers wanted to be responsible for zinc’ing a ship. <moans even from me>

sick Edward, you’re sick, sick, sick!
Dear LF,
First off, thank you for your help last week in my querry. I quess it is time to return the favor. As you know fly fishing I know small electrics.
Russell Hobb’s is a good product line and they are becoming more popular in the US market. They are well made and would be a good chioce. If I may make a couple of suggestions:
The best product line for the cost would be Cuisinart (Queese-in-art). They are well made and should last you a long time.
In your article you had mentioned your toaster having multiple settings for different tasks. If space is not a constraint I’d suggest you look into a toasteroven. Though a bit larger than a toaster they are made to multitask more so then a toaster.
