Interesting? Yes.
Will it catch fish? Almost certainly.
Is it an Adams? Not so sure about that one.
I love the look of that bug! The only thing that concerns me about this particular pattern is the extremely heavy hook. Will those materials float it?

Nice enough pattern, but seems like a waste of hackle. I do like how he seems to prefer a short shanked hook, however.
P.S. For yuks, watch the video using CC. Results are even harder to follow than his usual monologue.
Yep, CC was a hoot. I can only imagine someone trying to learn English by watching Davie’s videos on CC.

Yes… The Gammy S10 is a much better wire diameter for a dry fly.
The hook on Davies fly does look odd to me. I suspect the reason is that, years ago, dry flies here were almost always tied on up eyed hooks, wet flies on down eyed. Then we heard that in the States you used down eyed hooks for dries. With the changes that were going on at the time (like more parachute style dries being tied) this seemed like a good idea. That meant that dries started to be tied on what were lighter wire wet fly hooks. Of course, as usual, we hadn’t been given the full story. The hooks were dry fly hooks “with a down eye” rather than the same hooks that were used for wet flies. Davies fly looks as though it is tied on a light wire wet fly hook. Traditional wet fly hooks are shorter in the shank than the same size dry fly hook. It did strike me as a strange choice of hook when I saw it.

Way back during my RAF service there was a sort of neutral “services accent” emerging. It was a kind of middle ground between all the regional accents. I really hope that we are not heading towards that kind of single homogenised sterile accent. 400 years ago you would not be able to understand someone 25 mile from your home. Dave speaks with a very gentle Scottish accent, if you have difficulties understanding him, then don’t get lost if you visit! You’ll never follow any directions you are given!

Good Advice Alan. Many years ago I was stationed (USAF) in England. Traveling north I got lost in Newcastle - some time later I learned that actually WAS English the helpful locals were speaking but we were well and truly “separated by a common language” that day.

Hah. First time I ever went to England (back in 1985) I asked somebody at Victoria Station for directions. After three failed attempts at trying to figure out what the guy was saying, I finally asked, “Are you speaking English?”
A couple of times I’ve been on business in Edinburgh and Dublin, and I’ve had to ask my English escort to translate what a client is saying.
It generally takes me a couple of minutes before I start understanding what Davie is saying. He’s a breeze though compared to the actors on “Outlander.”
Maybe not after next week.
I accused a Scottish colleague (he’s a unionist) of still being ticked off about James VII. He told me there was no point in having a grudge if you weren’t going to hold it for 325 years.
I’m surprised that people find Davie hard to understand. I’ve heard far more indecipherable accents on the streets of Baltimore – and I live nearby.
I blame the mass media for the homogenization of language. Even still, I have needed a translator in the Southern part of my own country and when I travel more than a couple of hundred miles, I often get looks of amusement to down right confusion when I speak!
I too do not find Davie hard to understand, now we have some people out on our east coast (known as the Rock) that can be very hard to understand.
