Cutts

Back in the early 1990’s, I used to fish for native cutthroat trout in Yellowstone River where it came out of Yellowstone Lake inside Yellowstone National Park. The fishing there was super and I enjoyed it more than you could imagine. Buffalo Ford area was on of my favorite places. However, since lake trout were introduced into the Yellowstone Lake, the native trout population is just about extinct. Can anyone lead me to another stream that has the kind of fishing like the Yellowstone River used to offer? I still fish the northeast corner of Yellowstone (Slough, Lamar, and Soda Butte). It hasn’t been effected too much yet except for the crowds. Has anyone fished the Teton National Park area? Help would be greatly appreciated.

While the numbers of cutts in the upper Stone are down, due in part to the lakers, they are not nearly extint. There is legitimate concern for their long term coexistance with the lakers of course. There are also many attempts throughout the cutts historic range to re-introduce a sustanable population. I hope it works!

I miss fishing at Buffalo Ford too. Maybe this year I will take a drive down there, just to see what is going on.

Your profile, is blank, so have no idea, where you’re starting from, or, how far you wish to travel to get into some decent WS Cutt water!?

It was the early 70’s when LF and I started fishing BF. It was a grand opening day. Folks from all over would meet there on that special day. Alas, it is not to be the same, ever. New memories for those now, but not like it was; those were the glory times on BF. I know of nothing like it.

Flybinder, I updated my profile. Check it out.
Also, anyone can shoot an email if you don’t want to share the information with the entire world.
