This is my new reel seat, just picked it up yesterday. It’s for my other 2wt blank sitting here.

What do you all think?

I’ve got one on my 2 weight, too. It’s there for cosmetics only, and I like it. Don’t let anyone rain on your parade. That is what custom is about. What YOU want. :smiley:

What’s the wood used? Who built it for you? I like it!!

Don’t put down 2#'s! They’ve got big hearts, and deserve a butt cap if they want one!!

I also have butt caps on my 1-2-3-4 wt rods.

Makes them look neat, and freaks out my fishing buddies!

A buddy of mine from the fly shop builds them, and custom grips, rods etc. He’s in London, Ontario. Anyone who wants his contact info PM me.

I have a Sage 9 or 10 wt planned out. I’ve thought of having him build it for me, since he’ll do a much prettier job. But he’s doing the seat and the matching grip for me. I’ll post pics when I get around to scrounging enough for the blank:)

I’m not sure on the wood he used, I totally forget, it’s some exotic type from Africa. …I think.

I really like his work.

They also keep your reel out of the grass and dirt when you set it down. Function, looks and they really add very little weight!

This wood looks to me like Bocote. Nice wood for a reelseat, moderate weight, but dense.
