Went out at lunch today, cloudy, cool, rain shower just went through, and wind was 10+ mph. After about 30 minutes I had 2 small green sunfish to hand. Then I moved to where a water culvert flows into this lake. Cast the fly and let it bob around in the turbulence when the line stops so I lift the rod. It feels like I’m stuck on something, then the something starts to move. 5 minutes later this guy is sitting at my feet.
very nice. I bet that was a great fight on a 3 wt! I always take advantage of culverts draining into another body of water. In the spring the water coming out of them is a little warmer and carries a lot of food. Fish line up like its a Golden Corral.
Great to hear that the H&H 3wt can handle that beast! Was it the 9’ or the 7’9" you were using? I’ve got the 7’9", just dandy for gills, and now I guess for carp!
