crab bomb design settled...

I field tested all the prototypes and did some adjustments to shape and underside…the results have been stelluar so now to test on fish…this is the design I will stay with…it has a deadly “fall” and several trigger points and it looks real in the water for the most part…

Man, Cordell, that little beastie looks pretty amazing!

Here are some pictures of the floating crab that I tied using two different colors of foam. I did my best to draw the underside of a crab with a sharpie, and I don’t know what happened to the eyes, but you should get the picture anyway. I hope you can use this idea, it certainly floats pretty well. I think it is a 1/0 mustad saltwater hook, might be a 2/0. I used rubber bands for the legs and pincers.

bonefishwhisperer- that is an awesome design. I could definitely use that where I fish!

here is a floater…it is made mostly of foam and unsinkable

here is my new fleet…fully articulating rear paddles

Cordell,

Those look amazing!

TT.

Thank You…I still have ideas to improve upon but for now these will do…I fully expect them to last all yr, they are bullet proof…you cant even tear the paddles off if you tried…now I must find fish to cast them to…I seen a permit well over 30lbs yesterday but didnt get a shot…

Holy moly, I’d love a chance at a permit someday. I caught a nice pompano a few years ago in the Venice area, unreal how hard it pulled, can only imagine a good sized permit.

permit are my favorite species to hunt…the Holy Grail of flyfishing

outstanding crabs bfw. Very nice!

How are they working?

believe it or not I still have only had 1 cast at a fish with them due to being busy with customers…cant complain about that though…I still have my new 9wt and the crab bomb resting for about 2 months I think…also I am down to 1 crab for myself…the others slowly found homes but I kept the best one…I hope to fish myself again next week…tarpon will be here any day so I must be very careful because they will take it no problem
