I am new to this forum. here is some flies I have tied so far. I have been fly fishing almost a year now and tying half that time.
Looking good! Nice collection.

thanks jeff. I have more that I tied but no pix of them. I just got a new camera for x-mas also so I can take really good close ups now. I have been spending up a storm buying tying supplies. (winter sux) I started tying to save money. boy was I wrong. to make lots of patterns you got to spend spend spend. oh well its all worth it now as I can make stuff I see around here. I am making some olive and white clousers (lake erie shiner patterns)when my newest shipment of goods comes. also some olive zonker patterns with pearl mylar bodies and some black bunny leech patterns cause I done really good with black buggers on bass this year. well I will post some more pix of my ties when I get a chance. keep ya posted.
Flies are looking great! Yes, it can get expensive, however there are many ways to combat that. look around in your local parks for feathers, ask any friends who may hunt for deer/elk/etc. hair, and be innovative. Look at materials you would have never thought to have used before. dryer lint for example… Good Luck!

thanks for the tips. I will keep that in mind. I have me a pretty nice collection going already. haha
FA69,
Nice flies, & Welcome to FAOL!! Great folks here.
Folks…We have another Ohio boy herein fishaholic69. We are really building in numbers from the Buckeye State…now we need to convince these new guys to update their profiles.
Mike
hey ohiotuber small world! I have always used fly anglers online’s beginners section(taught me all the basics) and fotw archives. never really noticed the forum until this one guy the other day said he had a rough time here when I recommended him to the fly recipes on the archives? glad I didn’t get the reception he did haha. well thanks guys for the comments and hope to add some tips and learn alot from here. I see there are alot of people already! always a great sign!
Welcome, Fishaholic69!
Yeah, you’ll enjoy it here, no doubt!! We won’t even hold it against you, that you’re from the same state as OhioTuber! (We don’t think, Ohio’s that proud of him either!?)
Anyway, don’t forget to hit your local CRAFT and YARDAGE stores, for a LOT of great fly tying materials!! Peacock herl, threads, mylars, tinsels, even furs and good synthetics, are all available and usually much cheaper, at places like JoAnne’s,Fabric, etc.!!
Yeah, well, Flybinder isn’t permitted east of the Mississippi, so take his comments with a grain of salt!
Don’t forget WalMart’s craft department either.
Mike
Fishaholic69,
Welcome aboard! Nice ties, looks like you’re on the way. Keep in mind the race is won by the slow and steady. You can’t get everything at once. In addition to the recommendations already posted let me also suggest that you can get good quality materials at reasonable prices from a number of the FAOL sponsors. Hook & Hackle, Conranch and several others come to mind. Check out their information and prices when your considering a purchase of materials and please elt them know you found them through FAOL.
Does seem like we’re experiencing a significant influx of members from Ohio. The north eastern part of the state seem to be particularly well represented.
Sorry, Mike! it isn’t that I’m “Not Allowed”…“east of the Mississippi”, it’s merely the fact I don’t have any reason to leave the United States for another country!
Who wants to visit some other country, where they use cell phones with extension cords, eat SPAM and can’t land a simple 5 pound rainbow on a 3wt. rod in less than 30 seconds?
Heck, heard tell, where SOME of them fur-in-ners, east of the Big River, will spend untold dollars to ride around on a big boat, but NOT FISH while doing so, then pay out even MORE hard earned cash, at a “Rent-A-Babe Booth” to have their picture taken with a pretty girl and tell their friends, back home… “I went on vacation with my WIFE”!!
NO THANKS! I’ll stay HERE!
Fisahahoilc69,those are STILL very nice flies, though! Nicely done, keep up the good work!
Welcome aboard. Those flies look very good.
Dave
I do NOT eat Spam!!!..That’s Joe!, the guy with no taste buds.
Mikey
Hey F-69 ! Welcome to FAOL !! Nice flies! Those nymphs are some of my favorites out here in Oregon as well. Take yer time and just grab one or two things every time you walk by the tyin section in yer local fishin stuff shop, and you’ll have lot’s of stuff in no time, and your list of stuff you want will still grow ever time you see a new fly
Nobody who really understands any of this ties flies to save money  that’s crazy talk. It’s the stuff we like…Happy tyin’…ModocDan
FA69,
Glad to see you made the transition over here. You know me as Utard. Hope you’re planning on coming up to the Rocky Fishing Trip. Hear tell we need to get you into some chrome!

I will have to hit up the local craft shops asap. this time I might wear some of my camo gear tho seeing as I came up to the register with all these feathers and this good looking girl running the register is like. “soooo, you must like feathers…” think she thought I was gay or something? had to explain the whole fly tying thing haha. hey utard! I am not sure if I can make it to the rocky. will have to see if I can. never fished it before.
