Costco - Kayak and Rain Gear

Here’s a tip for you bargain hunters.

While shopping the Schaumburg Costco (not my number 1 tackle shop) I noticed a few items worth looking at if you or a friend has a card that will get you in.

A 10? Kayak 275 lb capacity with paddle, spray skirt, and car top carrier all for $349.95. Don?t expect Olympic performance. But this gets you everything you need to get started.

Men?s Breathable Nylon rain suits for $29.95.

If I was in the market for either I would give them a closer look. Of course, call your Costco to see if they have the same sales going on.

A word of caution concerning this kayak;

Last year I bought that exact model for my father in law, it is extremely tippy/ not very stable for casting!!!

When flipped over it sinks like a rock, were as my old towns float when filled with water.

Take care,
chris

Thanks for the warning, Chris.

I would hate to be part of an information chain that lead to a drowning. My bad for asssuming the craft would have some kind of inherent flotation at least some air bags in the bbow and stern. I know Old Town often uses a foam sandwich material with a fancy name. Those float.

As for tippy, though I cannot speak to this kayak, that is often a tradoff item in the performance category. Narrow and tippy = farther per stroke. Wide and stable = less distance per stroke.
