Just checking – you’re supposed to be able to tie conventional fly fishing knots with this stuff. I would tie either a clinch or a loop knot to attach the fly. But would you add the bite tippet to your leader with a surgeon’s knot?
Yes, I loop through twice so I guess it’s a double surgeon knot. It may not be as easy as mono but it’s close. Really bendy stuff.
I also have used a loop to loop connection with success.
I use a high quality, black, small size swivel like Spro power swivels to connect the tippet to wire. It doesn’t hurt casting, you don’t have to cut back class tippet, and switching the wire trace is breeze.
I attach the wire to the swivel with a figure 9 or clinch knot and the wire to fly with a non-slip mono loop knot. With the wire, you only need a couple of turns around the standing line when forming the knot. I attach the class tippet to the wire with a palomar knot.
I have used this for pike and large toothy saltwater critters. I have found no negatives to this system.
