Got my new TFO Pro 6wt. Tried it with a new Lefty Kreh Sig flyline from S.A. Took the line back because it was too limp.I like a line with more stiffness. I need suggestions from you good folks on a better line. Thanks and God Bless!
I have used RIO products for that last three years and have not been disappointed yet. They’re made in the U.S.A., in fact right here in Idaho Falls, ID. My favorite for 6WT is the RIO Selective Trout II in a double taper. You may also want to try out your line at your local fly shop and might just find that you need to overline your rod by at least one line weight. My Sage RPL 9’ 5WT throws much better with a 6WT line, and I guess I’m just old-fashioned, but I like a double taper better than a weight forward and I’ve tried both. I’ve also experimented with Cortland 333, 444, and 555, along with SA lines in various grades and I keep coming back to RIO.

Well I have to agree, you cant go wrong with Rio lines, I love the Rio Grand and have always heard that the Rio Nymph is also a very good line.

If they make it in a 6, the Rio Salmon and Steelhead line is about the un-limpest line I have ever used. Memory like an elephant. You can have my share of the market.
Turn around, go right back and swap that SA line for the SA ‘Sharkskin’ (probably a WF6F) type line. It will make that TFO sing.

I have a TFO Pro in a 4 weight, and it too throws a 5 weight as well if not better than a 4 weight. I’ve always wanted a 9 foot 5 weight but never got around to buying one. Now, by accident, I find I have a 2-fer. A 4 and a 5 weight in one rod. By the way, the 5 weight I’m using is Cortland’s WF5F Peach, and the 4 weight is (I believe) a Cortland 333 WF4F.
Sometimes blessings come in a $30 package instead of a $60 package.

I have been very satisfied with the RIO lines that I use. I use the RIO Windcutter II on my BIIX 6WT and its never let me down.
Nowhere, unless it’s been hi-jacked and put on the black market. The 333 is the line I meant that sells for around $30. I think if I knew the answer to your question I’d buy them all and sell them for $35.

What don’t you like about supple lines?
I think the Lefty Kreh line is one of the best deals in the price range. It doesn’t go limp in the heat of summer in Texas. It doesn’t have any coiling problems. It casts as well as any WF line I’ve used, and it seems to be holding up well after a year of use.
If you thought that line was too limp, then you may not be satisfied with the 444 peach. If a stiffer Cortland line is what you are looking for, try the 444 SL. I think the RIO Classic would also be classified as a limp line.
SA Mastery series is stiffer than compared to the Ultra series. But if JC recommends the SA Shark and money is not a consideration, go for it.

In the warmer months, this is my line of choice. Of course, if you don’t mind ponying up a hundred bucks, the Sharkskin line is pretty sweet…
I have the Sharkskin on a TFO 6wt (the Axiom), and am pleased with it (I don’t like “limp” lines either!!).
