I’ve been searching around on the internet, trying to find a good 3wt WF or DT line. I’ve found both the Cortland 444 (actually a H&H Hi-Floater, but all that I’ve heard leads me to believe they’re very similar) and an Orvis Wonderline for the same price. Any suggestions on which one to get?
would have to suggest to you the Cortland 444…but I would get it in the SYLK version. after initially waiting on mine for about 6 weeks (2 years ago), i finally got it… and I love the stuff (now all my trout rods sport SYLK). although I purchased much Orvis gear in my beginning stages of flyfishing career, I have come to hate Orvis equipment.
I’ve had three real seats fall apart on my last three Orvis REPLACEMENT rods (they all three broke under normal use)… instead of sending them back for more of the quality “worksmanship”, I repaired the real seats myself with some good ole’ fashioned 2-ton epoxy… maybe they don’t have access to 2-ton epoxy in CHINA.

There were problems with the Wonderline coating, I don’t know if it was/has been corrected.

Thanks everyone. Actually, I got a gift certificate to Bass Pro for Christmas, and they carry the SA “Trout” line. Guess I know where I’m going to spend it.
In my experience wonderline works great when first out of the box, but the slick coating quickly wears off and the memory is horrible in cold weather. I’d avoid it.
