Cornucopia of warmwater flies

The Wal-Mart here didn’t have the Vellux blankets, so the jury is still out on that. I’m fairly certain its the same stuff.

The local fly shop here has furry foam, but only one color (brown). I’d like to get the off-white color in order to tie that “bread fly”.

OK, I couldn’t stand it so I went to Penny’s today…very close by… they had vellux blankets and indeed they are furry foam…

I have some of my own from the flyshop and have peeled it apart so I know how it is constructed…I could see the mesh thermal grid in the tan blanket vellux at Penny’s…didn’t take my knife and dissect it…

Twin size @ 50% off was $17

Incidentally…it’s nylon.

Are furry foam and fuzzy foam the same thing?

Is the foam in furry foam closed or open cell?

I bought some of it. All I have used it for to date is a variation on the crease fly.

I need to play with the other some of the other colors. It looks flashy on a gurgler, but the sparkles are on the wrong side.

Dave, a veritable cornucopia, indeed. Lots of good looking flies in there.

Here’s some Crappie Candies and Rick Z’s Boa Yarn Leeches I tied last night:

FishNDave: Here is a few ideas for you. The flies on the left are made from the walleye floats and the others on 4x long shank hooks with the idea it will be asier to remove the hook from the fish. Tim

Very interesting. Thanks Tim!
